Noctua Text & Translation was named after Athene noctua, the little owl. This charming European owl with its characteristic eyebrows is about the size of a blackbird and is active by day as well as by night.

Noctua is the one-person company of Corinna Vermeulen (in collaboration with a colleague, if necessary). Corinna Vermeulen wrote a PhD thesis combining classical philology and history of philosophy. When she was a child, language already was her favourite toy. Before becoming an independent translator she worked at academic institutions, publishers, a dictionary, translation agencies, and as a volunteer at various organisations.
